Full Description
Circular water filled moat, 40m external, 20m internal diameter, on S edge of Little Glemham Park (GLL 003), W of St Andrew's Church (S1). Central platform slightly raised, but with a slight depression in the centre, several large trees growing on it. Moat/ditch wet except on north side. High position in landscape. Remains of an old track lined with old oak pollards close to north side. Traces of a ditch on its SW side, continuing line of field boundary outside park. Size and location suggests that this is the site of a windmill (S2).
2002: Monitoring was undertaken. Considerable depth of dark brown, waterlogged loam, up to 1m in depth. The inner edge was steep, 60 degrees coming down from low mound. Outer edge eroded by cattle watering. Spoil was checked although nothing of interest was seen. (S3)
