Full Description

Part of the Icknield Way identified as Palace Street: the will of John Withall (died 1524) left 20s to be spent in the `reparation of the way called Hiklingsway leading from the tenement called the Rame in Newmarket towards the Church of All Saints'. An earlier manorial account roll appears to mention Ikenelseway (S1).
This appears to be the ony part of the Icknield Way in Suffolk that is backed up by medieval documentary evidence actually naming it as the Icknield Way.
