Full Description

Water mill on the Black Bourne river. Shown on Hodskinson's map of 1783. Listed in 1964-5 as wheel powered with 3 pairs of stones and modernised. Ceased work in 1956 (S1). Note: 3 (water) mills are listed in Sapiston in 1086. Mill shown on James Crow's map of 1758 (S2).
Mill also shown on Kirby's map of 1736 (S3) although it is marked SE of church, rather than NW - may be different mill or mislocation.
