Monument record BUC 031 - Field OS 4956, Bucklesham to Alton Water Raw Water Main, Bucklesham.

July 1991: An 85m length of the pipe line was examined after three ?prehistoric hand-made pottery sherds were recovered following topsoil stripping. This area was trial trenched revealing large post-medieval disturbance and which produced modern finds of pottery clay pipe fragments and brick and tile fragments. This feature is likely a post-medieval quarry pit which lies in the very north-eastern corner of the field. To the west of the quarry pit was a ditch 0.80m deep under the plough soil and a probable Iron Age pottery sherd was recovered from the fill. This ditch is related to the nearby cropmark complex (BUC 004). During the cleaning around the ditch, a Roman grey ware rim sherd was also found (S1).
