Full Description

1991: Watching brief and trial trenching identified a layer of hillwash c0.05-0.3m deep. A moderately large "bell" shaped pit was excavated and contained burnt flints. The pit appeared to cut through more silty, grey hillwash. Another pit was examined, also containing burnt flints. A few small fragments of post-medieval tile were recovered which may have been carried down in animal burrows (S1).

Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be Later Prehistoric, based on context, (S2).
