Full Description
Cranley Green: 112a. Stinted Green, transferred to Agricultural Land Commission in 1951 (S1).
Horse races held on the Green 1843 (S2). Day allowed, May 20th, `for the sale of spirits, and other fun of the fair, when farmers assemble to let the rights, or yearly goings on the Green'. Also mention of a cricket ground on the Green (S3).
1991: Green has now been converted to arable, with the exception of a small strip of grassland on the S side of the road from TM 1695 7270 to 1725 7235. Green is crossed by a small watercourse, with a bridge at the road at TM 1725 7235. The large pond at TM 1745 7216 is still there, surrounded by trees and scrub (S4).
