Full Description

A group of earthworks visible on AP (R1). They comprise a platformed, banked subrectangular enclosure, measuring 60m NW to SE by 55m transversely and maximum height 0.40m and the remains of a larger enclosure further NW. A wide and shallow ditch divides the two and feeds into a marshy area to the E. A possible building site that may be modern centred at TL 7867 7076 but only two random fragments of Late Med pottery found, suggesting possibly a barn with associated field enclosures. 1847 Tithe Map names field 'The Rookery' (S1).
