Full Description
December 1991: fieldwalking assessment of proposed rising sewage main route located scatter of Med & PMed pottery (site 4), building debris, bone fragments and lava quern fragments along circa 70m length, near road adjacent to two ponds. PMed finds listed as:- 7 body sherds late Med/early PMed type ware; bone fragments (?date), 1 rim, 1 base, 2 body sherds early PMed glazed ware, 1 clay pipe stem, brick & tile debris. Date range on site C13/C14 - C16/C17? Almost certainly house/settlement site. Further examination recommended (S1). Also Med.
1993: Part of this Medieval/Post Medieval site was stripped of topsoil, with two Medeival pot sherds being recovered aswell as a few Post Medieval sherds (S2).
