Full Description

Reworked flanged axe, probably Needhams Class 5 (S1). `Found in the Summer of 1961 by Martin Cooke, Esq, on the boundary of Stradishall Aerodrome'. Described as having dark brown patina and having chalky deposits lodged in flange angles. Edge irregular & blunt & haft re-worked (anciently). Length 8.4cm (S1)(R1).
Stradishall airfield formerly extended from Stradishall parish across Hundon into Great Thurlow and Monks Risbridge parishes. Now mainly farmland.
