Full Description

Low-flanged axe, 12.8cms long with dark green patina & bright green pocking. Edge blunted with small indentations. Edge bevel at base of decorative panels of chevrons on blade faces, also cable decorated (?on flange sides). Needham class 4Eb low-flanged axe (S1).
According to Evans (R1) from Suffolk, locality unknown, but possibly based entirely on place of purchase (S1). Purchased in 1872 at the Spelman sale in Suffolk (R5) by Sir John Evans. Previously SUF Misc.
