Full Description
Posters Lane: very substantial green lane running from the former Rush Green at Wyken towards Walsham-le-Willows and forming the parish boundary between Bardwell and Stanton. Fields adjoining this lane are recorded with names containing `Pod-street' in the 1839 Tithe Apportionment for Bardwell; presumably Posters is a corruption of Pod-street.
At the Rush Green end the lane has been partially infilled by encroaching trees and bushes and its width effectively reduced to a narrow path. However, after about 200m the lane widens out into a broad road with ditches on either side. There is evidence of stone metalling. There is also a suggestion that the surface was ploughed a year or two ago (S1).
Originally Bardwell parish but, since parish boundary changes, now in Stanton.
