Full Description
Pre 1992: Items found over a long period in the Justice Wood Farm area by a former landowner, now retired (S1, S2).
1. Tranchet axe, unpatinated brown-grey flint, 13.1cm long by 4.2cm wide by 2.3cm thick, weighing 0.15 kg. More or less straight sided. 2. Tranchet axe, brown-grey flint with a reddish tinge, 13.9cm long, maximum width 4.8cm tapering to 2.9cm at the butt, 3.2cm thick, weighing 0.25 kg. Possible slight traces of gloss towards the centre of the axe, perhaps from a haft. Blade chipped.
3. Tranchet axe, brown-grey flint with a faint purplish tinge, 16.2cm long by 4.5cm wide by 2.7cm thick, weighing 0.27 kg. Relatively straight sided. Straight blade shows signs of reworking from one side.
4. Pebble hammer or macehead with an hour-glass perforation, made of ? quartzite. Roughly circular 7.2cm by 8.0cm and 2.5cm thick. Central perforation 2.3cm wide at the top narrowing to 1.1cm at the middle, weighing 0.22 kg.
