Full Description

Feb 1992: Fieldwalking identified a dense scatter of Medieval pottery, including a little Thetfordware, close to the northern edge of the field, near a former field boundary that has now been removed. A light scatter of Medieval pottery sherds were found over the rest of the field (S1).

1995: Excavation revealed medieval and undated features. The undated features comprised a ditch and two pits, which contained animal bone but limited dateable evidence. A 16th century token was recovered from an unexcavated portion of the ditch. The remaining pits were all of medieval date, based on recovered datable pottery and finds evidence. Activity on the site was concentrated in the 13th to 14th centuries to the Late Medieval period, with a possible second phase in the 16th century. The excavation of one of the pits recovered a large quantity of horn cores (S2).
