Full Description

Moated site at Shadingfield House. Remains of a narrow rectangular moat, now more or less U-shaped, with a footbridge across the middle of the long arm. House lies within the site. The east side has been filled in (S1).

2009: An archaeological monitoring was carried out on land at Shadingfield House during the excavation of footings for a single storey extension and orangery. Modern disturbance was noted to extend throughout the topsoil deposits and no archaeologically relevant artefacts or deposits were observed. (S2).
