A church in Battisford is listed in the Domesday survey.
Church of St Mary - nave, chancel and bell turret with saddle-back roof. Turret supported by odd brick buttress, climbing up with 7 set-offs. Former W tower has disappeared. Nave and S porches approximately circa 1300. C14 roof with crown-posts with 4-way struts, braced collars and ashlar pieces. Nearly all designs on C14 font are decorated. Threshold of S porch is formed of two old gargoyles from the fallen tower. Also a scratch dial. Details in (S1)(S2).
