Full Description

A church is recorded at Stanton in the Domesday survey of 1086 (also see SNT 006). Church of All Saints - tower now in ruins, only lower stage remaining, this shows wall arcading and stone benches. Tower probably stood detached until linked up with church by building of fine C14 S aisle. Roofs + benches modern. Font - plain octagonal bowl supported on circular shafts - probably C13. On buttresses N of nave are inscribed stone panels - now not decipherable except for a crowned M. Details in (S1)(S2).
