Full Description

A church is recorded at Barnby in the Domesday survey.
Church of St John the Baptist. Thatched, C15 bell, C13 font, tower, C13 chancel. For details see (S1)(S2).
Drainage channel excavation in Oct 1992 watched by interested member of public - little of interest noted except evidence for former southern door to church and possible pathway leading from it (S3).
Roman coin, 4th Century, found in churchyard by IMDC metal detectorist in 1994 (S4).
