Full Description

Circa 1989, perhaps a few years before: plain penannular gold cuff fastener, slightly cracked on curve. Reputed to have been found (metal detected) by dealer, (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), with another, slightly larger, example decorated near the terminal plates. Both said to be part of a bronze hoard found near Beccles but very little precise information forthcoming. The plain example seen for sale on a stall at a Street Fair at Eye about 1989, the other had already been sold by that time. Sketch, & date of Street Fair, with Geoff Moss (S1).
Note: Joan Taylor lists only one other plain example of a cuff fastener and only one is recorded outside Ireland (England, unprovinanced).

Formerly recorded as BCC MISC
