Full Description
Ampton Hall and adjoining lake/pond. Ampton Hall was `burnt down in 1885 and rebuilt in a restrained Jacobean style by Balfour & Turner in 1885-9. The fine wrought-iron gates in the wall towards the street, belonged to the old Hall, and also the good rusticated archway with pediment and inscription, probably of circa 1700.
