Full Description
March 1994: Assessment excavation by Scout hut on Brandon playing fields. Three 1m wide trenches totalling 32.6m were excavated in advance of planning application for St Johns Ambulance HQ. The trench section showed a layer of grey/brown soil similar to the occupation layer on the main sites, but with no occupation material and rising subsoil to the NE. Three ditches were located (2 small gullies and 1 large ditch) but none of these contained any dating evidence. It seems probable that this area is just on the edge of the island and the features peripheral (S1).
