Lime kiln at Stanton listed in Trade Directory Reference. Visited May 1981, kiln cleared away (S1).
In 1619 Robert Wither of Stanton is listed as a lime-burner (S2)(R1). Note: Kiln Close and Kiln Wood (field names) are recorded in the 1839 tithe about 2km to S.
