Full Description
Bronze pin of the late Sax period, has a spherical lead head onamented with rosettes on its upper half (S1).
The lower half of the pin is plain. The pin itself is broken but it passes completely through the head. This was found using a metal detector by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s).
The pin was examined and dated by Sue Margeson (Norwich Castle Museum). G Jenkins suggests the pin may have originally been gilt and that lead was used to suggest by its weight that the head was solid gold. It is 2.7cm in length (S2).
