Full Description
The pin has a tinned bronze head and a bronze shaft; its length is 4.8cm (bent) and the diameter of the head is 1.4cm. Each hemisphere is decorated with 3 wire braid circles each containing 3 smaller braid circles; there is a smaller circle between each of the larger ones and an 'equator'. Circlet of small bosses in each hemisphere arranged at the centres of the large circles and the points where they touch each other. The pin seems to pass through the head. The head is hollow. Small perforation on the equator. The equator is defined by two rings of braid. Examined and dated by Katherine East (British Museum) (S1) (S2).
Very similar to the pin from Bredfield, illustrated in (S3) - see BFD 004.
