1384: Hospital/Priory of Black Friars removed from Dunwich to Blythburgh due to encroachment of sea (S1). No further details.
1525: `Chapel of Holy Cross (wayside chapel) located beside great bridge' (S1).
1760: `Remains of ancient chapel called Holy Rood (on) N side (of) main street leading to bridge'(S1).
Location of chapel probably circa TM 452 755.
