Full Description
Rendlesham Hall or House, site of.
`Rendlesham House' marked on OS 1st edition map 1837. Hall marked on Tithe Map of 1839 (S1). Rendlesham Hall a `large and handsome mansion of flint and stone, delightfully situated in an extensive park and erected since Feb 2nd 1830' (when previous Hall - see RLM 019 - burnt down)(S2).
`Rendlesham hall was destroyed a few years since by fire, but has been rebuilt on a smaller scale' (S3).
Said also to have been burnt down (S1), but certainly was demolished when a a new Hall was built 1868-71 (see RML 021).
Site seems to be partly overlain by a circular garden feature belonging to the later Hall.
