Full Description
Rendlesham Park.
Park shown on J Hodskinson's Map of Suffolk 1783, belonging to Lord Archibald Hamilton. No park shown on E Bowen's Map of Suffolk 1755. The park was enlarged by 1837 (OS 1st edition map) and the mapped extent is based on that shown on the 2nd edition OS 6in scale map of 1905. Park is said to have been laid out by Humphry Repton (S1), citing a mention in Repton's Theory of 1803 (S2), but this only mentions the conservatory attached to the Hall, which was not designed by Repton.
