Full Description

Small post mill with single-storey roundhouse, dated 1749. The roundhouse has a basement level. The mill ceased work c.1900 and has been partly dismantled. Restoration was carried out by Suffolk County Council in 1966 following a rescue operation by amateur enthusiasts. There were originally two double shuttered spring and two common sails, one pair of stones and a fantail. Of these only the fantail and four dummy sails remain (S1). Shown on Kirbys map of c. 1736 (S3) so surviving mill probably rebuild. One of country's 16 best industrial monuments.
