Full Description
A bronze half penny trade token 2.9cm diameter was presented to Moyses Hall Museum as part of the Harley Collection in 1984.
On the obverse side of the token the following is depicted: a weaver at work at his loom and the words "HAVERHILL MANUFACTORY". On the reverse side there is: The cypher FF in script capitals in a dotted oval and surmounted by a wolf's head holding a leafy twig in its mouth, and PRO BONO PUBLICO 1794 is written. The edge of the token has the description "PAYABLE AT JOHN FINCHAMS SUFFOLK" and the rest is engrailed.
In "Commercial Coins 1787-1804" by R C Bell, Corbitt and Hunter Limited, Newcastle upon Tyne, 1963, this token is listed as "Suffolk Number 12" (S1).
