Ancient woodland as defined in (S1).
For details of history and earthworks see (S1), the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, English Nature, The County Council Countryside Section and various Oliver Rackham works including (S2). Still extant.
Also shown, and named Thurston Park Wood, extending further to east, on 1839 tithe map (HBSMR mapping adjusted accordingly)
