Full Description

Linear bank c.1m wide and 20cm high, running for approximately 100m in a NNW- SSE direction in Mildenhall Woods. Appears to start 8m from the road and becomes less distinct the further south it goes, finally disappearing into forest undergrowth. Located in mature Scots pine plantation. 1st edition OS map shows this to be possible boundary of area marked as `Warren Hill'; not clear whether this is an early/late phase of the warren or whether it represents a subdivision within it (S1). Probably part of bank shown on OS 1st edition map (1836) from cited NGR S to Icklingham Road at TL 740740 (also see MNL 510).
1859: Tithe map shows this land parcel marked as `Warren Three Hills' and is arable (S2). Does the bank represent crops/rabbits division?
1880s OS map shows this as possible part of banks(?) delineating edges to W (this), N (beside road) and E (beside arable field) of a broad tree (and heath type) belt.
