Full Description
Water mill shown on Kirby's map of 1736 (S3) and on Bowen's 1755 map (S1) south of church. Not shown on Hodskinson's 1783 map.
Possible mill weir, pool & race/leat defined on HER map [no its not!], exact position of mill not known.
Field (92) to N named Mill Hill in Tithe Apportionment.
Apparently `The Upper Mill', a fulling milll, stood in or near the orchard of the Grange (adjoining church) `which is called Mill Hill' (S2). See tithe (plot 92) for Mill Hill [or Mill Hall?- check](S4)
Two watermills are recorded at Chelsworth in 1286.
