Full Description

Round barrow (?) earthwork. Circular, circa 32m in diameter, circa 1m high from SW & SE, 1m plus from NE & 1.5m from NW. Marked rise from all sides, surrounding landscape uneven and includes some (natural?) sand ridges and mounds but this mound probably artificial. 100 paces from centre of forest ride to NW (S1).
March 1998: Scheduled - details in (S2).

July 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The probable Bronze Age round barrow described above is barely visible on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S3). A circular mound has been mapped at this location, but it is smaller than the 32m diameter mound described above (at approximately 15m diameter), and is virtually indistinguishable from the presumably natural 'mounds' which surround it; as described above, the ground surface across the entire area is very uneven.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 7th July 2017.
