Full Description

Earthwork bank, marked on OS map as solid line. Possible projection of Elveden warren boundary linking to the Warren (Stock?) Enclosure (ELV 036). A low wide flat-topped bank circa 3m wide and 1m high. No sign of significant bank in compartment to the east of present course? On OS map, a solid line is marked as carrying on across B1106; it is possible that, if the earthwork had indeed projected up to B1106 (recent felling, raking and replanting so destroyed if it was there) and thus may have extended eastwards on course of mapped OS alignment. Was this a land-division earlier or later than the warren enclosure (S1)? Or a link to/from the enclosure from a droveway between the Brandon and Wangford Warren boundary banks?
Note projected line interrupted by enclosure banks ELV 036.

January 2019. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The earthwork bank described above is visible on imagery from a 2015 lidar survey (S2). It has been mapped and recorded as part of SHER ELV 039. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is probable that the earthwork still survives.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 18th January 2019.
