Full Description

`Eastgate Bridge (site of)' located at cited NGR on OS 1886 (S1). Actual bridge depicted on Warren's 1747 (S2) and Downings 1740 (S3) maps. Just to NE of present Eastgate Bridge? Construction date unknown but clearly medieval, 5 arched, form shown on pre 1832 engraving with bridge chapel, on stone piers, on south side of bridge (S4). Removed 1840 (S4). Road widens into Broad Way to SW and house (shown on engraving?) frontage to NE splays to align with location.
