Monument record PKM 045 - Beaumont's Hall

Beaumont's Hall is marked on the 1904 OS 1:2500 map at TL 9455 6742 and was still marked on the 1958 1:10560 map, but not on the 1978 1:10000 map, To the E of the house there is an L-shaped pond that appears to be the remains of a small moat (the 1904 OS map shows a part of a third side, suggesting a 14m square island) possibly for a dovecote - centred at TL 9459 6745. Site of the manor of Bemans or Beaumonts. John le Strange of Hunstanton, Norfolk, married in 1428 Alice, daughter and heiress of Nicholas Beaumont of Pakenham. In 1486 Henry le Strange died seised of the manor of Bemans, held of Bury Abbey (S1). An Abel Beman was was concerned with land in Pakenham in 1380-1 (S2).
