Type and Period (1)
Ring ditch complex, circa 25m diameter, possible causeway facing S (S1). Within extinct field system with possible second ring ditch to the NE.
A ring ditch circa 25 metres in diameter is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, centred on circa TM255414, about 250 metres to the north-east of Pyghtle Cottage, Bucklesham parish. The ditch is on average 1 metre wide and contains no apparent breaks or entrances. The most likely interpretations for such a ring ditches is either as the remains of a round house of later prehistoric date or a round barrow of Bronze Age date. In this instance, although the ditch is rather narrow and may be respected by a nearby cropmark field boundary, the absence of an entrance makes the latter ore probable. (S2).
