Full Description

Cropmarks of field boundaries and ?trackway (S1).
Possible field boundaries and a trackway of unknown date can be seen on aerial photographs as cropmarks to the east of Martlesham village, Martlesham parish, centred on circa TM252465. The features can be seen as three roughly equally spaced parallel linear cropmarks on a roughly east-west orientation, between two extant field boundaries of probable post medieval origin. They cannot be seen beyond the modern boundaries, but this may be due to differences in crop or soil depth. It is not clear from the available photographs or map sources which, if any, of the visible cropmarks comprise a ditched track or field boundary, and what period they originated in, but they do share some characteristics, such as general alignement, with possible field boundaries to the west (MRM 124).
