Ancient woodland as defined in (S1).
For details of history and earthworks see (S1), the Sufolk Wildlife Trust, English Nature, the County Council Countryside section and various Oliver Rackham works, including (S2).
East side of wood at least (other sides not checked) has double banks and ditches defining boundary - very unusual, significance unknown (CP, Feb 2012).
