Full Description
The following entries record the discovery of Rom remains: 'not many years ago there were Rom urns dug up here among old buildings' (R1). From Grose we have the statement 'A number of Rom urns dug up here about the year 1678' (R2)(S3).
Suckling says that after a fire which damaged the village in 1676, the labourers in clearing the ground for fresh buildings found several Rom urns and coins (R3) (S1).
Burials found 1678 (R4).
