Full Description
Disc brooch, pseudo coin type, found metal detecting in ? Lowestoft area. Design copying gold solidus of Louis The Pious (AD 814-840) ; obverse : bust to right with degraded lettering (original LVDOVVICVS IMP), reverse ; cross in (devolved) wreath, legend very devolved from original (MVNVS DIVINVM). Brooch pin of iron largely missing. Design may be copied from original solidus or more likely from a Frisian copy, (S1) with comments from M Archibald British Museum.
