Full Description

November 2001: Monitoring carried out during excavation of housing footings exposed a single feature (pit) which was probably of medieval date. The soil profile consisted of a dark clay loam over boulder clay mixed with chalk. The single feature was aligned north-south and was c.4m long and filled with brown loam. There were several large pieces of fire-reddened clay within the machine spoil. A single sherd of medieval coarseware was recovered c.12-14th century (S1).
