Full Description

Small 'lodge' named and drawn (symbol only) on plan of Lakenheath warren of 1853 on east side and close to Turnpike Road at approximate cited NGR. Construction date unknown - now part of airfield (S1).

2010: The Breckland Society's survey of The Warrens of Breckland identifies the perimeter banks of Lakenheath Warren (LKH 174) and locations of the associated lodges. Three lodges are mentioned in the Terrier of 1649 and two of these may only have been occupied during the trapping season, with the main lodge (LKH 115) located at the cente of the warren (S2).

See LKH 143 for location of the second seasonal lodge. See also Grotto Lodge (LKH 144) near the south west boundary which could be one of the warrener's lodge but more likely an ornamental hunting lodge. This lodge (LKH 221) is more likely the third seasonal warrener's lodge as the trapping banks were located in the north west of the warren.
