Full Description

Large amount of platform gunflint production waste visible in levelled material following demolition of former garage workshops. Also memory of earlier (med in origin?) timber framed barns, house and smithy towards road frontage on site (see OS maps?) (S1). Tithe maps not checked.
An archaeological monitoring of the excavation of footing trenches and associated groundworks at the former depot, Beeches Road, West Row, Mildenhall, identified unstratified medieval material indicating low-level activity in the vicinity during the medieval period and a possible cellar and well associated with post-medieval buildings shown on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey of 1904 (S2).
For further smithy in West Row see MNL 636.
