Please read our .

Summary

The cropmarks of an enclosed settlement of probable Roman, or Iron Age to Roman, date is visible on aerial photographs at Rendlesham. The site consists of a main complex of enclosures bordered by trackways, surrounded by fragmentary fields and ditches. Finds in the area (RLM 037, RLM 039) would suggest a concentration of Roman finds broadly coinciding with the main focus of the enclosures. Although an Iron Age origin is also possible given the morphology.

The cropmarks of an enclosed settlement of probable Roman, or Iron Age to Roman, date is visible on aerial photographs (S2-S6) at Rendlesham. The site consists of a main complex of enclosures bordered by trackways, surrounded by fragmentary fields and ditches. Finds in the area (RLM 037, RLM 039) (S7) would suggest a concentration of Roman finds broadly coinciding with the main focus of the enclosures. Although an Iron Age origin is also possible given the morphology. A trackway or later field boundary, assumed to be later in date, runs across the site.
