Full Description

Monitoring of works associated with Anglian Water Ltd., revealed a possible med ditch with med pottery sherds on surface. Pottery dates from late 12th-early 14th century and was all sand tempered courseware. Ditch orientated E-W across the stripped area coniciding with an existing fence line along the northern edge of the water meadows. This suggests some continuity exists between present field boundaries and their medieval predecessors. In some areas, the shallow depth of the soil stripping prevented any archaeological features from being visible. S1
Full extent of works unknown - extends into Foxhall and Kesgrave parishes at least but may extend further.
