Full Description

Circumstantial evidence suggests brick industry rife in Beccles during Pmed period. BCC 033 & BCC 034 - 2 brickworks shown on 1880's OS map (S2). Brick kiln farm - BCC 020, shows a brick kiln in the area. Also lime kiln (BCC 017) during same period.
S1 states that Beccles had:
1 bricklayer in 1550-1599
1 bricklayer in 1650-1699
1 bricklayer in 1700-1702
6 bricklayers in 1844
2 bricklayers/tile makers and 1 bricklayer in 1912.
