Full Description

Late 1st and 2nd century grey ware pottery sherds found by a machine driver during groundworks for new shops opposite the car park on the High St - adjacent to 104, probably the development listed as 98-100 High Street. Oyster shells also said to have been numerous. Finder not aware of any archaeological monitoring of the development (98-100 did have a watching brief condition)(S1). 19 sherds, mostly of reasonable size, some possibly from the same vessels. Pottery held in SCCAS store, finds list in file and digital (S2).
Note: watching brief at 106 High Street produced no evidence of pre 19th century archaeology.
