Full Description
Hartismere Union Workhouse, site of. Said to have been 18th century building, rebuilt in 1854, with 178 inmates in 1881 (S1). Mapped on HER map after OS 1880s map when marked as 'Union Workhouse', and as Hartismere Union Workhouse on 1900s OS mapping.
Converted to use as school by 1920s by which time the Union workhouse had been replaced by the Poor Law Institution (see EYE 062).
Demolished for housing in 1970s (See Med).
