Full Description

Site of holy well (or spring?) suggested by place-name evidence from at least the 12th century. Recorded as Halliuelle in 1189-1200 (S1, S4), Holiwell Row in 1759, Holywell Row in 1843 (S1).
Field names also listed in Mildenhall Bailiffs Accounts (of 1390-92 & 1400-1401) include 'Halywelle' and 'Halywelle feld' (S3).
1574 survey records 'Halliwell Waye' and Halywell wayes' (S2).
Location of the holy well site is unknown.
