Full Description

Monitoring foundation trenches for house extension located large cut feature into which a number of postholes had been driven. Suggested as possible town ditch but appears to run in wrong direction. Details in (S1). Radiocarbon dates confirmed Medieval (620 +/- 30 BP; 1290-1400 AD (95% probability)) date of one of timbers driven into ditch (S2).
Site is just within Medieval town (see FML 052).
Note Medieval (?) wall at 59 Fore Street (see FML 028).
